The foundation is launching its inaugural Small Business Cohort for East Side entrepreneurs and small business hosted by Twin Cities Local Initiatives Support Corp and Rooted Philanthropic. The application period is now open! Applications accepted until August 2, 2024.

The Small Business Cohort aims to support entrepreneurs by growing their social capital, financial capital, and business mindset through a series of workshops and learning opportunities, as well as access to capital. We are excited to invite applications from entrepreneurs and small business owners who share our commitment to advancing the economic ecosystem on the East Side of Saint Paul.
Key details about the cohort application process:
- Application Deadline: August 2, 2024, at 5:00pm Central Time
- Eligibility Criteria: Live in East Side of Saint Paul, Work in East Side of Saint Paul or Children attends school in East Side of Saint Paul
- Application Guidelines: Must show proof of one year in operation, current with Minnesota Secretary of State, be in operation for the next 4 years and committed to attending each course, provide updates semiannually to Rooted Philanthropic on your business operations.
- Subject Areas:Personal Finance, Business Finance, Business Planning, Digital Marketing, Business Relations, Leadership, Business Operations and Family Business
- Compensation: $200 stipend will be provided each workshop attended by cohort members; a total of $1,600 stipend can be obtained by attending all workshops. In addition, at the end of the 8 training sessions, each cohort member will have the ability to apply for up to $20,000 in a grant towards their business operations. A total of up to $21,600 could be earned for each entrepreneur who gets selected and completes this workshop series.
